Fajalauza is a traditional ceramic style originally created in Granada’s Albaicín district, known for its colorful, hand-painted designs.
This craft dates back to 1517 (16th century), though it didn’t become known as “Fajalauza” until the early 19th century.
Despite various influences over the centuries, Fajalauza ceramics have always been made in a uniquely Andalusian style. While the craft has Christian origins, its methods are rooted in Moorish traditions, using old-style ovens and techniques shaped by Mudejar influence.
Today, these pieces are still handcrafted and hand-painted by Granadian artisans, who have refined their skills over generations, passing down this beautiful art from parent to child.
A perfect gift for lovers of Andalusian craftsmanship, or for those you wish to share a piece of your passion for Andalusia’s culture and heritage in a unique and meaningful way.
